Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón – ITAINNOVA showed LIFE Multi-AD Project in a session in which other projects funded by the LIFE programme were also presented.
Ana Martínez Santamaría, researcher in Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón – ITAINNOVA, presented the LIFE Multi-AD 4 Agro SMEs Project (LIFE17 ENV/ES/331) in the EU Water Innovation Conference – EUWIC 2019 held in Saragossa (Spain) last 11 – 13 December 2019. During the Conference, attended by around 900 people, innovation proposals and best practices regarding water management were shown at technical, governance and policy levels.
The talk was included in the “More management, less impact” session, organized by the LIFE MCUBO project with the aim of promoting policy and management towards an ambitious purpose in the protection of water, mainly addressing issues such as the problem of efficient use of water and the wastewater treatment in the food and drink industry. A new technique for the treatment of groundwater for human consumption was also discussed.
The main objective of the LIFE Multi-AD 4 AgroSMEs project is the development and industrialization of a fully automated system for the treatment of wastewater generated by small and medium-sized companies in the food sector. This technology is based on the design of a high-performance anaerobic multiphase reactor patented by AEMA and its production will be customized according to the specific needs of each client.
The LIFE Multi-AD 4 AgroSMEs project will reduce the environmental impact of SMEs in the food and drink sector and the operating costs derived from the treatment and management of their waste.
